Sarah Kim

Sarah Kim, a sixth grader at Burleigh Manor Middle School, has been playing the violin since she was five years old, studying with Dr. Christian Tremblay at the Peabody Preparatory of the John Hopkins University. Currently, she is principal second violin of the Young Artist Orchestra and a member of the Violin Choir in the Performance Academy at the Conservatory. She also serves as the concertmistress for the Burleigh Manor String Ensemble.

Recipient of the Achievement Award in violin and piano, she has been featured in several recitals, including the prestigious Vella Silver Recital, Signature Recital, String Department Special Recital, Intergenerational Elderhostel Program Recital at the Conservatory, and the Festival String Orchestra at The Walters Art Museum.

Kim won first place in the 2010 Maryland State Music Teachers Association Violin Competition and finished second in the 2009 Asian American Music Society String Competition, Peewee Division.

Sarah is an avid book reader and enjoys watching science fiction movies.
